Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live in a city where your judged by the money in your pockets and the car you drive. In the series, Clique, by Lisi Harrison, that’s their way of life in Westchester. Westchester is the city where most of the series takes place. It is near New York City so it is all around richer part of the US. On top of clothes and having the best car always seeming to be of the most value in Westchester, academics don’t even seem to matter at all. Seeing that, I would hate to live there and be poor. Although I may not ever want to live there especially if I was poor, I do like to read about the girls there and their adventures. The series Clique, by Lisi Harrison is one of the best series’ for teenage girls.
Claire, the new girl in town, and her family are staying with the Block family. Their daughter just happens to be one of the most popular girls at Octavian Country Day School. The new girl named Claire, who is the same age as the owners daughter Massie, happen to not get along very well. Massie is very rude to Claire because she doesn’t want to be seen with a financially unstable new kid. On top of that Claire doesn’t have a very good sense of style.
Although Claire and Massie do not get along, Claire’s battle to fit in and Massie’s battle to make sure Claire doesn’t is one of my favorite parts of this series. Because of how catty and snooty these girls who go to OCD are makes the series hilarious to read. Another thing I like about the series is that it shows what you’d sound like if you treated people the way Massie and her pretty committee do. It makes you extremely cautious to never sound that rude and spoiled. The pretty committee are the rulers of the school, made up of Massie, the alpha, Alicia the most beautiful girl in school, Kristen the brains of the group and Dylan, who is very sensitive about her weight, yet she always seems to be eating. They are the meanest girls in school who can find a flaw in everyone they meet. I love how creative the author is with these characters, and it is one of the reasons I really like to read this series.
I really like how characters change over time, that’s one of my favorite parts of this series. The author changed Massie a lot since the book started, one thing she changed was the way she feels about Claire. In stead of Claire and Massie being enemies they are now friends and are temporarily sharing Massie’s room until the guest house gets remodeled. Now Claire has joined the pretty committee and that was I change that no one saw coming. Since almost losing her best friends Massie is trying very hard to make sure her friends know she appreciates them. There is a lot of character development in this series, I love seeing how one character starts and how they end, they are always different.
My favorite character is Claire Lyons, one of my favorite things about her is her ability to stay true to herself no matter what the circumstances. Like when she started out in the pretty committee she still stayed friends with Layne no matter what Massie said. In addition to that she still has that initial kindness that she had when she first came to OCD, she never changed into someone Massie would hang out with, she made Massie move on and try not to change her. I really like how she stands up for herself when Massie is being very rude to her. Whereas any person who goes to Octavian Country Day school would never even think of standing up for themselves. I’m really glad Massie accepted Claire as she is and let her be herself. Claire Lyons is my favorite character in Clique.
Clique is one of my favorite series’. It is definitely on my top ten list of favorite series’. Seeing that whenever I read a Clique book I have trouble putting it down, I can proudly say that Clique is one of my favorite things about this series is how every book is different and there is no particular book I like best. Although Clique is not on the top of the list for my favorite series it is still in my top five favorite series. The series Clique, by Lisi Harrison is one of the best series’ for teenage girls.
